October 29, 2002 to November 30, 2013
In December of 2002 I was asked by a customer if I'd be interested in a Labrador, Border Collie cross puppy as a friend of hers was trying to find homes for 11 puppies. I love both those breeds so I couldn't resist, off I went to Steinbach and there were 11 adorable puppies but one little fellow stuck out to me.
There was a softness in his eyes that captured my heart instantly, the choice was made, I also took a second boy for a friend and off we went home. They both were pretty active little boys but mine was by far the most active and the last one to sleep thus he attained his name "Trooper".
Trooper filled my life with nothing but joy, he loved to swim, chase minnows, play ball, go for trail rides and he was the first dog I ever did agility with. Looking back on the endless mistakes I made learning agility - Trooper bailed me out every time!
He just loved playing the game with his mom. We enjoyed countless ribbons and tiles at agility trials both here in Canada and the US, what fun it was. Of course tunnelers with its full out running was his most favorite and it was hard to beat him.
I love all my dogs tremendously, but this boy was my heart dog, he was kind to all, loved children and never did a mean thought enter his mind.
He was just a loving SOUL.
"I miss you my friend, but I will see you at Rainbow bridge someday".
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
